Drinkwater and Moses must improve to stay at Chelsea - Sarri

Sarri tells Moses he is free to leave Chelsea

Hodgson’s comments suggest Jason Puncheon’s Crystal Palace career is not over yet

Only Wolves in the Premier League have used fewer players than Chelsea this season, with Sarri sparingly calling upon either Moses or Drinkwater.

Palace have won two of the last three Premier League meetings between these two sides, including a 2-1 triumph at Stamford Bridge in April 2017. Much was made of Christian Benteke's iffy form last term, but Jordan Ayew hasn't been much of an improvement, and Roy Hodgson must be wondering why none of his midfielders are chipping in in open play; Andros Townsend and James McArthur in particular are well capable of contributing, but are leaving Wilfried Zaha to do too much.

"The situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two midfielders", Sarri said.

Hazard has less than two years to run on his current deal at the club and Chelsea need a decision before the end of the season as they may prefer to cash in on their prized asset rather than allowing him to leave on a free in 2020.

The 27-year-old has been on the fringes of the Chelsea team in the new campaign thus prompting rumours about a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

"We have used 26 players in official matches [in all competitions] this season so the rotation at the moment is this, but I don't know in the future", he said.

But if Palace continue to falter, Sarri should look to add him to Chelsea's squad in January to maintain their title push.

He was constantly used at right-back by the ex-Italian worldwide player. Everyone wanted to win Serie A, not the other competitions. Maybe not for the top but we have to try to arrive close to the top'. However, he did send a message to his club's loan group of 40 players that being on loan is better, if you haven't built up enough experience. He has improved, but he needs to improve more from the tactical point of view, . For me Cahill is important on and off the pitch as captain'.
