Rihanna declines superbowl performance in support of Kaepernick

Rihanna reportedly turned down Super Bowl halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick

Rihanna Declined Super Bowl Halftime Show Because of Colin Kaepernick

Now we know who Rihanna (maybe) stands with, despite the backlash Colin has faced.

Maroon 5 is headlining next year's Super Bowl only because Rihanna turned the gig down out of support for Colin Kaepernick, US Weekly reports.

"Friday thought. I wonder why more white players aren't kneeling", she wrote.

Kaepernick, a former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, began kneeling during the national anthem at NFL games during the 2016 season to call attention to social injustices and racial inequality. Kaepernick has filed a collusion grievance against the NFL.

The "No Drama" singer caught up with paparazzi and they asked her what they thought about Rihanna's decision to not sing for the NFL.

"I personally told my reps I wouldn't do a Super Bowl commercial this year", Schumer wrote on Instagram Friday. "Just when she walks into a room people feel her presence". The selection of Maroon 5 by the National Football League drew heavy criticism given the bevy of talented musicians that come from the Atlanta area.

According to Jezebel, a source told Entertainment Tonight, "Rihanna was the front-runner for next year's Super Bowl halftime show". They were like, "This hood rat is talking as if she will EVER have a chance to EVER play the Super Bowl". The 2019 Super Bowl is scheduled for February 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
