Aaron Ramsey: I thought I had agreed a new contract with Arsenal

Although that will mean there is time for Arsenal to desperately try and negotiate a new deal for the player, Ramsey is asking for a lot of money and it's likely the north Londoners will ultimately not pander to player power.

The Welshman is nearly certain to leave Arsenal on a free transfer next summer and the club are reportedly even prepared to listen to offers for him in the January window.

The Gunners are now in danger of losing Ramsey in January or he could leave for free once the season concludes.

Juventus picked up a high-class free-agent in Emre Can last summer, and are open to another similar transaction with Ramsey.

The 27-year-old was linked with a potential move to Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC in the summer, before Manchester United were named as potential suitors in recent weeks.

"I believe that Arsenal want him to stay, but they have to make this stance".

"Of course [I will see out the season], yeah", Ramsey said after Wales' 4-1 loss to Spain on Thursday.

Asked if he was disappointed that the contract offer was withdrawn, he replied: 'That's a decision they have made.

"Everything has been going great with the club", he said.

"But I don't know how far Arsenal will go in terms of giving him a huge contract. We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that's no longer the case", he said.

The player has now returned to full-contact training with his Arsenal teammates, and is therefore expected to be available for the club's next Premier League game against Leicester City on October 22.
