The annual Arrowverse crossover is on the horizon, and now we have the first look at one of its biggest players: Batwoman.
Let's skip the preamble.
This year's Arrowverse crossover will introduce Batwoman to the CW's superhero universe and actress Ruby Rose will don the cape and cowl for the character first live-action appearance.
The three-night crossover kicks off with "The Flash" on December 5, but a spinoff series starring Rose has already been eyed by the network with a potential premiere date in 2019. Her black and red suit, designed by four-time Academy Award victor Colleen Atwood, also nods to the character's previous iterations with a classically cut cape with ruby red shading. Yes, that means The Flash and Supergirl are switching nights.
"Where on earth did "Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can't be batwoman" (sic) come from-has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I've ever read". Should Batwoman be picked up to series, it will join the above-mentioned shows along with Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning in the CW's comic-heavy line-up. The crossover begins filming today (October 9) which also happens to be the air date for the Flash season premiere, and we're wondering if the official release of a Kate Kane photo means we'll also get a first look photo of Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane sometime soon. Decades later, she was rebooted as Kate Kane, an openly lesbian superhero. Batwoman from their upcoming DC TV Crossover "Elseworlds". This would make sense, since Batman has been obliquely referenced on Supergirl. Although we have yet to see her act in the role, she definitely looks the part.
What are your first impressions of Rose's Batwoman look? Unlike some other Arrowverse costumes, Batwoman's appears to be incredibly intricate and comic-book accurate. Tell us what you're thinking in the comments.
