Seemingly every Transformers movie finds the world on the brink of some kind of annihilation at the hands of giant shapeshifting robots, and the upcoming prequel is no exception.
Bumblebee might not talk, but he's full of emotion in the new, full-length trailer for the Transformers spinoff/prequel, Bumblebee: The Movie. Travis Knight, best known for his animated work on ParaNorman and for directing Kubo and the Two Strings, takes the helm.
More importantly, it has plenty of G1 character designs too - with Bumblebee (and Optimus Prime, glimpsed in a hologram) returned to the plasticky shapes we all know and love. The worldwide trailer features several shots not seen in the domestic version, including more footage of other G1 era classic Transformers like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee battling Blitzwing, and shots of Cybertron. The sixth (!) installment in the Transformers series, after 2017's The Last Knight, is the first without director Michael Bay (he's an executive producer), and while it might lack his undeniable visual flairs, it also won't make "humanity a little dumber". Set in 1987, the film follows Charlie as she buys Bee (back in his old Herbie form - not the Camaro we see in the 2007 Transformers movies) and discovers who he really is - getting roped into an adventure that sees Bee trying to stop a bunch of escaped Decepticons wreaking havoc on Earth.
Watch the latest trailer featuring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena above. A certain yellow VW Beetle catches her eye and she asks the proprietor if its for sale. It is set for release on December 21st 2018 in the States and December 26th in the UK.
