Anthony Joshua will let the fans decide his next opponent after producing a sensational knockout in his successful title defence at Wembley.
And as he was handed a microphone for a post-fight interview, Joshua revealed his number one target for his next fight - April 13 at Wembley - is Wilder, the man who has so far evaded his clutches.
A booming right hand saw Povetkin (34-2) sag and a clean left hook followed by a straight right sent him groggily to the canvas, with no chance of avoiding a first stoppage loss of his career amid the follow-up barrage that followed.
Povetkin, like Joshua a former Olympic champion with his moment of glory coming in Athens in 2004, served notice of his punching power on the undercard of that bout, with a sickening knockout of Britain's David Price. Knocking the Russian initially, Povetkin made it up within the count, but not for too long.
The Russian was granted a world title shot after Joshua failed to negotiate a fight with Deontay Wilder.
Joshua defends his heavyweight titles later this evening against WBA mandatory challenger Povetkin.
'I'm not in the blame game, ' Joshua said when asked why previous negotiations with Wilder collapsed. Povetkin rocked Joshua again in round two forcing Joshua to hold on.
"And he also said to me in private message saying, 'Oh, I'm going to make you wait two years.' I'm like, 'Why?"
Campbell is looking for revenge against Mendy, who beat him in 2015, in order to put himself in pole position to face Mikey Garcia for the WBC title. When I fought Klitschko, I was much weaker and in worse shape than I am now. Wilder goes, 'I'm not signing that'.

Add in that Povetkin is 39 and has just a 75-inch reach, and it gives reason to believe Joshua will be in a position to pick up the win the same way he did against the smaller Carlos Takem, who Joshua knocked out in the 10th round of their October 2017 match.
