A first-round draft pick in 2011, Butler was named the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2014-15.

Here's the catch - Jimmy reportedly does NOT want to play for the Lake Show. even though he'd be playing alongside one of the GOATs. What's interesting about the trade request - in addition to the fact it comes so close to training camp - is that Butler developed into an All-Star player in Chicago under Thibodeau and the initial feeling was Butler likely would sign a long-term deal to remain in Minnesota.

After re-signing point guard Chris Paul to a four-year, $160-million contract, and reaching agreement on a five-year, $90-million contract with center Clint Capela, Houston is in no position to max Butler in 2019 free agency.

Not long after, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski had the three teams on the list: the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers. The most baffling detail to come out of prelim discussions is that he prefers the Clippers to the Lakers in choosing, partly because they can offer max deals to more than one pending free agent.

But they will now be seeking out teams to offer the best trade package for Butler.

Leonard reportedly planned to tell teams that his intention was to sign in Los Angeles next offseason.

"I think just hearing the balance, it's just a ways away, man", Irving said earlier this summer when talking about a season of 'will he or won't he?' in regards to his future.

The Knicks may not be interested in trading for Butler, based on statements made by general manager Steve Mills on Monday.

Kawhi Leonard is yet to play a competitive game for the Toronto Raptors but there is already serious talk about him leaving the team next summer in free agency.
