Eric Cantona says Jose Mourinho is not the right man for Manchester United and would much rather have Pep Guardiola, or himself, in charge.

It has been reported that Mourinho has followed Neves's progress closely, and that the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager - who has won league titles in Italy, Spain and England and the Champions League twice - was willing to make a move for the Wolves midfielder next summer after seeing how he coped with Premier League football.

Cantona, while convinced United will "always be great", is unimpressed with their present playing style, comparing it unfavourably with the freedom afforded across town.

"I like Mourinho. He has a good personality but not for United - they should have [Pep] Guardiola as coach", Cantona said in an exclusive interview with the Mail on Sunday.

United finished 19 points behind Manchester City last season as Guardiola's cavalier tactics tore through the Premier League.

Juve would have to agree to sell highly-rated attacker Dybala, who is rumoured to be valued at around £110m - more than the amount United would want for Pogba.

After winning the World Cup with France, United fans were hopeful that they would get to see the complete Paul Pogba, but even by his own admission, he has not performed as he should so far this season. They know where I am.

"I would like to coach and if they called me I would go. Then we would play creative football again", he added. We all felt special with him. All felt loved. He was always praising.

Pogba shone for his country at Russian Federation 2018 where Les Bleus were crowned world champions, but the 25-year-old has been inconsistent since returning to Old Trafford.
