"I made some great putts out there today including getting off to a better start than I have most of the season", he said.

One day after a 62, Woods shot 70 and was five behind.

After a 293 yard drive on the 413-yard par-4 second, Steele chipped his fourth shot to 6 feet, which he rolled for one-putt bogey on the hole. "We've fallen back a little bit these last two weeks, but no reason we can't play well here".

"I've been monkeying around with it throughout the summer at home in the back yard and made a decision to put it back in the bag today".

Philadelphia, Sep 8 Tiger Woods did not have things going his way at the BMW Championship a day after he opened with a 62, which was his lowest score since his last win more than five years ago. It has also nailed four of the last eight majors entering the weekend and called Tiger Woods' deep run in the PGA Championship despite being a 25-1 long shot.

Woods had ignited thoughts of his career first 59 after an outward nine that produced a seventh hole eagle and four birdies in a six-under par 29.

"I've been monkeying around with it at home and in the backyard throughout the summer, just never felt right, but it feels good", Woods said.

"I hit a lot of handsome putts that were on top of the edge and then obviously hit a couple bad ones on the last hole". I get good support around here. "It turned into even par, which is not what I needed to do today".

"You don't get many opportunities to break 60 and today was one of them", he said.

Woods will likely need to finish 37th at the BMW to advance, while Fowler needs 29th place and Spieth 28th. "I lose strength and I lose power and endurance".

Tee times were pushed back three hours on Saturday because of overnight rain that kept falling into the morning.

Schauffele, hopeful that a victory will give USA captain Jim Furyk reason to pick him for the Ryder Cup, stayed with Rose the whole way until his lone bogey on the 18th for a 67. He holed an 8-foot birdie putt on No. 2, part of a run of six consecutive birdies.
