Independence Day 2018: Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and others extend wishes

The President of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed also wished the citizens of India and the Prime Minister a happy Independence Day. He said the political leaders, intellectuals and the media will also have to play their role for promotion of unity and steer the country out of current challenges.

Meanwhile, a simple but graceful ceremony of Change of Guards was also held at Mazar-e-Iqbal in Lahore in which Pakistan Army took charge from Punjab Rangers. An Independence Day walk and race was also organized in Ormara in which a large number of locals participated with zeal.

The ceremonies for transfer of power took place on August 14, 1947, for Pakistan and August 15, 1947, for India.

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who will be seen in upcoming films like Gully Boy, 83 and Takht, hoisted the Indian flag with school children and noted that our young nation is the very future of the world. "Our country is a blessing for us".
