My son's meeting with Russian lawyer was legal

Trump Admits His Campaign Sought Dirt On Clinton From Russians At Trump Tower Meeting

Donald Trump defends Donald Trump Jr. Trump Tower meeting

President Donald Trump is refusing to be seen in public following his online admittance that his son Donald Trump Jr. colluded with Russian Federation to get dirt on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Sunday morning Trump contradicted previous White House explainations that Donald Trump Jr.'s 2016 meeting in Trump Tower was about orphans, with the president writing, "Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower".

And Trump once again defended the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, in which his son met with a Kremlin-connected lawyer saying it was "totally legal", and that he had not known about it.

"The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it's TRUE", Trump tweeted from his Bedminster golf resort in New Jersey. CNN reported last month that Michael Cohen, the president's longtime personal lawyer and self-described "fixer" was willing to tell Mueller that Trump did know about the meeting in advance.

"The tweet was very bad for Trump and a gift to prosecutors in several respects", Rubin opined.

The Trump administration's past attempts to characterize the meeting as part of normal campaign opposition research, as Trump reiterated Sunday, have been struck down; one Democratic campaign consultant told PolitiFact in July 2017 that the argument was "purposeful misdirection". Trump's tweet reveals that he lied past year when he personally dictated a statement, released by his son, Donald Trump Jr., which claimed the meeting was mostly about USA adoption of Russian children.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating whether members of Donald Trump's presidential campaign colluded with a Russian effort to influence the election.

In bashing the Democrats, President Trump referenced comments from former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who told Fox News of a tape that host Sean Hannity had played on his radio show of Schiff seeking to obtain damaging information on Trump from Russians. "So I think it's very important to point out that in a situation like this, you have - over time, facts develop", Sekulow said.

The Republican president had previously said the meeting was about the adoption of Russian children by Americans.

"When you look at a meeting that took place a year before - now two years ago - the question is, what law, statute, rule or regulation's been violated, and nobody's pointed to one", Sekulow added.

President Donald Trump is renewing his attacks on two of his favorite targets: the special counsel Russian Federation probe and the news media.

In another, he expressed frustration with both the media and Mueller's probe.

Trump might as well have just confirmed The Post's report that he is anxious about what the meeting portends for his son.
