Giuliani denies report that Michael Cohen may cooperate with investigation

Report: Michael Cohen ‘Likely’ to Cooperate With Federal Prosecutors

Michael Cohen reportedly separating with his lawyers in federal case

Michael Cohen, the longtime personal lawyer of Donald Trump, was preparing to part ways with the legal team that has been representing him in federal court in NY, according to multiple reports Wednesday.

McDermott Will & Emery, a NY and Washington firm, has been representing Mr. Cohen.

Earlier in the day, multiple reports said that Michael Cohen's lawyers were set to stop representing him in the case. The Wall Street Journal reported the law firm, which has represented Cohen since June 2017, would part company with him at the end of the week. With no representation, Cohen is "likely" to flip.

ABC's George Stephanopoulos broke the story on Wednesday, stating that as Cohen's attorneys plan to drop the case, the long-time personal attorney to the president is expected to work with criminal investigators who have been looking into alleged bank fraud and other charges for months.

The judge in the case appointed a special master to determine which files fell under attorney-client privilege, and it turned out to be only a tiny amount.

Cohen did not respond to calls and texts seeking comment.

"There's a lot of speculation about whether Mr. Cohen can pay Mr. Ryan's fees", the Fox Business correspondent continued. NBC News' Katy Tur also reported that Cohen expected to be arrested soon.

One former federal prosecutor pointed out that several news reports had highlighted that Trump and his associates were nervous about Cohen flipping.

"Look at Manafort", Giuliani said, likening Cohen's case to Manafort's.

President Donald Trump's attorney Michael Cohen, center, arrives at federal court in Manhattan on Thursday, April 26, 2018, with his attorney Todd Harrison, left and attorney Stephen Ryan, right. "No campaign finance violations".

Trump has said he never had an affair with Daniels.

"The key is to find out who the new lawyer is", Dershowitz told Business Insider, adding that Cohen could be seeking out a NY attorney he refers to as "prosecutors in defense attorney's clothing". "If Trump broke the law with respect to collusion with Russian Federation during the campaign or in other respects, it is very possible that Cohen knows about it". In a late May hearing, Wood ordered Cohen's team to complete that review by Friday.
