As mentioned, this news comes hot on the heels of Activision's announcement last month that Black Ops 4 would have a Battle Royale mode.
Electronic Arts has also released a new official multiplayer trailer for Battlefield 5 that you can also watch below.
EA revealed more details today at the EA Play press conference including a closer look at the game's multiplayer. "We'll bring you an experience that you haven't played before - in 'Battlefield, ' or anywhere else".
For now, we know from Battlefield V's promotional materials that Royale has been "reimagined" with core pillars of destruction, team play, and vehicles, and will be unlike anything we've played before. So new, that it won't be in the game and launch and that they're only going to be talking about it in the autumn.
Oskar Gabrielson, general manager of game developer DICE, had to address the backlash against Battlefield V over the inclusion of female soldiers when the sequel was first revealed. According to developer Treyarch, the mode will feature maps from the series, and will be 1,500 times larger than the Nuketown map, in particular.
It's unknown what form this new Battle Royale mode for Battlefield will take on, however. The jury's still out on that.
