In When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm aired by BBC's Africa News, the journalist exposes some of Ghana's football insiders, releasing footage of officials and referees accepting cash bribes before games, which is explicitly against both FIFA and Ghana Football Association's (GFA) rules. I take sole and personal responsibility for the proceedings on the video.

The GFA said it would cooperate with any investigation.

I wish to state my interest was to develop Ghana Football which led me to take the supposed investors to the President of the Ghana Football Association. "This is by no means an admission of wrongdoing for issues on the video", the statement said.

"Having regard to the widespread nature of the apparent rot involving top GFA officials, NSA [National Sports Authority] officials, match commissioners, football administrators and referees, government has chose to take immediate steps to have the GFA dissolved", he said.

The FA has been caught up in a mess as the video - produced by renowned Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye Private Investigations outfit - exposed corruption and match-fixing activities of top officials and referees. During this time, Mr. Nyantakyi is banned from all football activities at both national and global level (administrative, sports or any other).

Nyantakyi, who is vice-president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and also a member of the Fifa Council, was filmed in a luxury hotel in the Middle East, where he was made to believe he was meeting a wealthy businessman.

Abdul-Hamid said interim measures would soon be announced.

The conduct of all GFA officials and the suspended director-general of the National Sports Authority, Robert Sarfo Mensah, was referred to police for further investigation and any "appropriate action", he added.

Nyanyakyi's resignation means the Ghana Football Association are now without a president and a vice president after George Afriyie was sacked from his post a month ago.

Ghana's U-20 team also won a historic World Cup under his reign.
