The Warriors are going to the Finals.
"With that being said, Houston, the majority of the (conference finals) series, they did a very good job defensively following game plan discipline". It might require four games of around 34 points, nine rebounds and nine assists - about what James is averaging in 18 games this postseason. But the one Cleveland got is perhaps King James' crowning achievement, when the Cavaliers overcame that 3-1 deficit to beat the 73-win Warriors in Oakland in Game 7. GSW hit back with Kevin Durrant and Steph Curry who registered his first of many three-pointers of the evening.
The Cavs have twice been pushed to seven games, overcome injuries and gotten much-needed contributions to ease the burden on James from role players Green, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. They were -220 in 2015 (when they won in six games), -220 again in 2016 (when they lost in seven), and -300 previous year (when they won in five). James excelled as usual, and his supporting cast, including J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, George Hill, gave just enough help to win.
With that being said, this was a win-or-go-home contest between two of the best basketball teams the NBA has seen this decade.
Never before, however, have the odds been stacked so heavily against a James-led team. The Milwaukee Bucks' "Greek Freak", Giannis Antetokounmpo, has drawn national attention for his prowess. To put that in perspective, the last time LeBron James wasn't in the finals, Prince William was still single, and House Speaker Paul Ryan was the ranking member of the House Budget Committee.
And over these four years since James returned to northeast OH, the Warriors are 17-9 against the Cavaliers.
After fighting back so well in the third quarter, the Warriors managed the final quarter perfectly with Durrant & Curry combining to get the better of their rivals.
The two are now set to face each other in the historic fourth-consecutive NBA Finals matchup between their teams, although neither has been involved in the rivalry long.
