At a roundtable on immigration policy, Donald Trump suggested the Oakland mayor should be prosecuted. And because of the weak laws, they come in fast, we get them, we release them, we get them again, we bring them out.

In a White House meeting that included the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, House the majority leader, Kevin McCarthy, and top officials from the department of homeland security and the U.S. immigration and customs enforcement (Ice), Trump called the California policy "deadly and unconstitutional".

"They could have passed a resolution calling for their own congressman to put a bill in place so he can get co-sponsors on to pass a comprehensive immigration reform", said Santos Garcia. "We, the citizens of the fifth-largest economy in the world, are not impressed", Brown said in a statement.

The president then listened as each of the officials attending the meeting praised the work his administration is doing to address illegal immigration and discussed their municipalities' efforts to challenge the sanctuary state law. "That Democrats gave us that law and they don't want to do anything about it".

Senate Democrats, however, have objected to simply handing Trump all the monies needed to complete the project.

CNN commentator Keith Boykin argued Trump's comments were "the same dehumanization tactic used by slave traders and slave owners to justify the oppression of black people for hundreds of years".

The federal anti-gambling law is unconstitutional because "it unequivocally dictates what a state legislature may and may not do", Justice Samuel Alito wrote in his majority opinion. The bases would house minors under the age of 18 who either cross the border alone or had their parents separated from them by government officials. Kelly described the threat of separating undocumented families as a potential "deterrent" for others considering immigrating to the United States.

Trump also told Nielsen that she was "doing a good job", one week after berating her during a cabinet meeting for failing to halt border crossings.

Hardline immigration policies have become increasingly important to the Republican elections blueprint, and Trump's extreme stances on the issue were a significant factor in his White House win, according to analysis by FiveThirtyEight.

Fresno county republican party chairman says this anti-sanctuary wave is only the beginning.
