Before the decision was made to end the series with season 4, Netflix announced that it would break up the season into two parts. The show follows Kimmy Schmidt as she moves to NY after she is rescued from a doomsday cult, where she was being held captive underground by a mad preacher played by Jon Hamm. Once she's freed, Kimmy decides to start over in New York City.
Though season 4 might mark the end of the series, it may not be the last time we see Kimmy, Titus, and the rest of the gang.
"I'm really distraught that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is ending and the final season is coming out in a few weeks", one Twitter user expressed their grief. The seven episodes that make up the second half the season will be available at a later date in 2018.
The streaming service picked up the single-camera comedy series, originally piloted and given a 13-episode series order at NBC, with a two-season pickup ahead of its debut.
Netflix also released a handful of first-look photos from the new Kimmy Schmidt season - and doesn't it look like Jacqueline is now crashing with Kimmy and Titus? The excitement of Kimmy's new position in life reaches a record screeching halt when she arrives to the office and her first task is to fire someone.
