The Browns addressed some major needs in the second round, most notably taking Nevada left tackle Austin Corbett with the No. 33 overall pick.
With the 76th pick in the 2018 #NFLDraft, we have selected QB Mason Rudolph. Rudolph benefited from throwing to James Washington and Marcell Ateman, Oklahoma State's spread offense, and slow Big 12 defenses.
"To go on to the next chapter, the next level with one of your brothers", Rudolph said, "with your best receiver that you've spent your whole college days with and you could potentially spend another 15 years with, it's going to be one heck of a ride and I can't wait to get it going".
It appears this could be a move by Pittsburgh to help find an eventual replacement for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Rudolph went 32-9 as a starter with Oklahoma State, the most wins by a quarterback there.
Fichtner hopes Roethlisberger, 36, plays another four-to-six years - "I keep my fingers crossed he plays as long as he wants", he said - but believes competition in the quarterback room will improve everyone.
He joins an impressive group of Steelers receivers in Antonio Bell and 2017 first round draft pick Juju Smith-Schuster. The two-time Super Bowl victor told teammates after the Steelers fell to Jacksonville in the divisional round of the playoffs he expects to play at least three more years. "I'll come in and work my butt off to learn the system". The Steelers will have three picks including two picks in the fifth round.
