Mr Cohen has asked the court to give his own lawyers the first look at the seized materials so they can identify documents that are protected by attorney-client privilege.
In a court filing Sunday night, however, Trump's lawyers argued that would not protect the president's rights - thus disputing the Justice Department's position. But prosecutors want the documents to be reviewed for attorney-client privilege by a "taint team" of lawyers within their own office, who would be walled off from the main prosecution team. Cohen, too, argued in court Friday that his documents should be kept from prying eyes.
"This is perhaps the most highly publicized search warrant in the history of recent American criminal jurisprudence".
Hannity critics on Twitter noted that he has covered Cohen on his show before without disclosing any ties to Cohen. Sometimes Trump praises Hannity in return. He added that Cohen's "life has been turned upside down".
Fox spokespeople also did not respond to questions about whether Hannity would face any disciplinary action.
The F.B.I. raided Mr. Cohen's office, home and hotel room on April 9, seizing business records, emails and documents related to several topics.
Cohen is under criminal investigation, prosecutors confirmed last Friday.
McKay told the court on Monday that 10 boxes of documents had been seized, as well as "hard drives, the electronic devices" with a lot more material.
During a federal court hearing on Monday, lawyers for Trump fixer Michael Cohen attempted to shield the identity of a prominent person that Cohen has been secretly advising. The other seven were of a business consulting nature.
"I've known Michael a long, long time. I have sought legal advice for Michael". "I've never been a client in the traditional sense". I never received an invoice from Michael.
"I'm always forgetting things", he said. "I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third party".
It's not yet clear what services Cohen said he allegedly provided Hannity.
Cohen previously disclosed that in the course of the past year he had represented three clients. The woman became pregnant and subsequently had an abortion, Broidy said in a statement last week after The Wall Street Journal first reported Cohen's role. "Most [think] Cohen's clients are going to kill him when their files all get leaked to the media", he said, just minutes before the Hannity revelation went public. The Russia investigation has frustrated the White House as it has spread to enfold some of Trump's closest confidantes.
The Cohen raid, conducted by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents with a search warrant a week ago, sought evidence of those payments, which could violate laws on bank fraud and campaign contributions. Daniels was in the courtroom on Monday for the arguments.
