New Ford Focus 2018 REVEALED

Ford has sold more than 16 million units of the Focus since its launch in 1998, almost seven million of which found homes in Europe. What will be under the hood when the new Focus reaches the USA and Canada is another unknown. There are also plans for an Active crossover Focus, with raised suspension and plastic wheelarch cladding. It will underpin many new Ford cars including the next generation of Kuga SUV.

Though the same Focus will be sold in markets all over the world, available body styles will vary depending on region. In addition, for a popular compact model has the Deluxe version of the Vignale and "passable" modification is Active.Representatives of the American brand noted that Ford motors is the most "technically flawless and armed with a Focus in history". However, the new model is loaded with tech.

The new Focus gets a wider range of driver assistance technologies too, including adaptive cruise control that can adjust the car's speed to the posted limit by reading signs, fully automated parking and an evasive steering assistant that helps drivers avoid potential collisions. The list could go on...

Comfort is key to the new Focus. There is a forward-facing camera to read and monitor lane markings up to 65 meters ahead of the auto. It also gets Ford's adaptive front lighting system with predictive curve light. So this, the all-new Ford Focus is a big deal for Ford.

A head-up display is available for the first time in a European Ford. The vehicle is also said to be a better handler thanks to a new chassis and suspension design that ups torsional rigidity by 20 percent.

Powertrain options in the new Focus include further-optimised versions of Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost and new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engines, both enhanced with Ford's cylinder deactivation application for three-cylinder engines. The engines will range from outputs of 84bhp to 180bhp. The fourth generation Focus rides on a new chassis and suspension and has a new optional fast-shifting, 8-speed automatic transmission aimed to aid fuel efficiency and performance.

In an attempt to elevate the Focus' premium feel, Ford has added soft-touch materials to the dashboard and door trims and polished glass and brushed finishes for the door trims and air vent surrounds.

Drivers can charge their mobile devices on a new charging pad located under the instrument panel. Meanwhile, the company is focused on tailoring vehicles to individual markets worldwide while cutting costs by reducing design options. Pricing also wasn't announced. Each grade boasts a slightly different appearance and equipment levels.

Ford has created some pretty interesting cars over the years but none of them stand out as much as the Ford Focus.

Ford has revealed the all-new Focus - and it will have some pretty cool technology when it arrives in Australia later this year.

What this essentially means is connectivity features. There'll be native music streaming, too, while the FordPass mobile app will allow remote access to locate the vehicle, check things like its fuel level and oil life, and unlock and start it from a smartphone.

For a family hatch, the last-generation Focus wasn't as practical as you might think, with limited rear space and a boot size that rivals easily exceeded.

Backseat passengers enjoy greater shoulder room, legroom and knee clearance thanks to an extended wheelbase and flat floor.

Prices start at £17,930 for the Focus Style - £2,300 below the model it replaces. The top-end models are the Titanium X from £22,820 and the Vignale from £25,450.

The popular Ford Focus wears a completely new suit for 2019.
