Alex Wood of the Los Angeles Dodgers pitches in the third inning of the game against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium on March 30, 2018.

It brought back similar results on Sunday evening.

Hill's subpar spring has been well documented, so he is likely appreciative to face an opponent where a blueprint for success has been well established.

For the Dodgers, it was the first game that counted since the team's disappointing Game 7 of last year's World Series - a plodding 5-1 loss that capped an otherwise ferocious Fall Classic that saw the Houston Astros captures the first world championship in franchise history. It wasn't until he gave up his first hit of the game, a fourth-inning leadoff single to Corey Seager, that Stratton ran into trouble. The under is 4-0 in Hills last 4 home starts vs. Giants and the under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings.

"That did not go unnoticed, seeing the way the ball wasn't traveling maybe what we were used to seeing in past seasons", said Dodgers starter Rich Hill, who threw six shutout innings in his 2018 debut. He was outstanding again last season in leading them to the World Series, going 18-4 with a 2.31 ERA and 202 strikeouts in 175 innings.

Giants starter Chris Stratton allowed three runs, all earned, in 5-1/3 innings.

Two games and two 1-0 wins for the Giants so far this season, both on Panik homers. Jansen and the Dodgers made a deep postseason run a year ago, which means a big workload and a lot of intense innings, and a shorter offseason to recover. That lineup only amassed nine hits and two runs while striking out 12 times over the first two games.

Veterans Longoria and right fielder Andrew McCutchen were acquired over the winter to boost the Giants' attack, but during the series they combined to go just 1-for-31, with McCutchen managing a single in the first game. The Dodgers are 6-2 in their last 8 during game 4 of a series, 5-1 in Hills last 6 home starts and 6-1 in Hills last 7 starts. Wood recorded 151 strikeouts in 152 innings past year (25 starts), while finishing the season 16-3 overall with a 2.72 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP.

He will need some run support, though, even if he can find his 2017 form. And it is the Giants who are 2-1 on the season to the Dodgers' 1-2 record. Panik's long-ball heroics turned out to be the sum total of San Francisco's scoring.

I hit the under yesterday in Game 1 and I'm going back to the well tonight. That we wouldn't have to rely on the home run to win games, which is exactly what happened in our two wins.

Suddenly, though, the script has been flipped. Two fights broke out, including one between two female Dodgers fans.
