Police arrest a multiple car arsonist who appears to be mentally unstable

State Police: Officer shoots, injures fleeing driver after he pointed AR-15 at police in St. Mary Parish

A resisting arrest charge was added after he allegedly refused to get out of his vehicle and then tensed up before being handcuffed. When they arrived on scene, he allegedly and came at an officer with a wooden bat-like object and was shot twice.

Homicide detectives spotted the Accura about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday driving on Battleground Avenue.

Police say photos of the child's injuries showed "a long thin bruise on the left ribcage area and bruises in various stages of healing covering a large portion of the child's buttocks area". They followed the vehicle through the Westmount neighbourhood before pulling it over near the intersection of Avenue P and 29th Street. Police say the West Church Street resident woke up to find Michael Tomshack of South Maple Street sitting on her bed and yelling at her. The officer deployed a Taser, and the man was arrested.

"Obviously, he felt threatened", Scott said.

Officers say 42-year-old Elton Wayne Holmes, Jr.

Authorities are responding to cell phone video of an officer-involved shooting in Norman.

He said the man "had hit a couple of the officers", and that he saw them bleeding - one from the lip or nose, and another on top of their head. "We will provide him with peer support and resources to help his mental and spiritual well-being".

Footage of the incident showed two police vans and a vehicle blocking Demesne Road as officers get out of the vans, some with riot shields.

In the meantime, officers swarmed Battleground, collecting evidence and talking to witnesses. Police followed the auto into the parking lot of the Battleground Village shopping center, where two men inside the vehicle tried to flee. Across the parking lot, three officers stood guard over a gun on the pavement.

Rustenburg/ Tlhabane - Three suspects, aged 32, 41 and 46, are in custody following their arrest for a robbery in Tlhabane on Monday, 19 March.
