The AT4 package is positioned to lure customers away from competitors that have been raking in cash in recent years, such as Fiat Chrysler's successful Jeep brand, and the somewhat unexpectedly popular Ford Raptor off-road pickup, which began with a small team within Ford working with a modest budget.
Sierra AT4 also includes standard off-road tuned Rancho monotube shock absorbers, a locking rear differential and Hill Descent Control, a driver assistance feature that leverages the anti-lock braking system to enable smooth, controlled descents on steep grades without the driver having to touch the brake pedal under certain conditions.
The AT4 boasts a two-inch lift kit and a unique two-tone wheel design, available in 18- or 20-inch sizes with Goodyear Wrangler Duatrac or all-terrain tires.
"The 2019 Sierra is the boldest expression ever for GMC's full-size pickup, and the new AT4 reinforces its essence of capability with distinctive, athletic cues", said Matt Noone, director of design, GMC Exteriors.
A black chrome finish on the foglight bezels, fender surround, and grille insert add to the truck's sinister exterior styling.
Look for the 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 to arrive in dealerships later this fall with pricing announced closer to its on-sale date. Inside, the interior is decorated with dark-tinted black accenting and textured aluminum.
The Sierra's head-up display projects an off-road inclinometer onto the windshield, including the fore-aft tilt, front tire angle and left-right tilt. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles offers its Ram 1500-3500 pickup trucks in a variety of special editions, including the 2019 Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition that will debut in NY. The truck gets a bunch of cool new features, a new diesel engine option and a carbon fiber composite. Eighteen-inch wheels with all-terrain tires are standard. Bumpers, door handles, and grille shell are body colored, and a pair of vertically mounted front towhooks are painted red. A 110V outlet in the rear routes power to the tools and supplies needed for a day at the track or on the trails.
Available GearOn accessory rails within the box allow for bike racks, kayak carriers and other accessories to be installed or adjusted quickly and easily. Both optional engines use the new 10-speed automatic to transfer power to the rest of the drivetrain. For improved economy, the gasoline units feature stop/start technology and Dynamic Fuel Management cylinder shut-off tech.
Perhaps the biggest news here is that GMC is apparently launching another sub-brand, similar to its luxury Denali lineup.
