Adult film star Stormy Daniels says she was threatened to keep silent about an alleged sexual encounter with Donald Trump in 2006, telling her story in a highly anticipated interview with CBS' "60 Minutes" broadcast Sunday.
Some critics reacted to the Daniels interview by saying it didn't break a lot of new ground.
Her story of an affair with Trump and hush money paid in the waning days of an election has shown resiliency while other scandals have come and gone, and now it is one of three court cases that could pose headaches for the president. He didn't use a condom, she said, and she didn't ask him to. "You'd have to ask Michael Cohen about the specifics".
Cohen's own attorney, Brent H. Blakely, demanded that Daniels or Avenatti apologize to his client for alleging intimidation.
Daniels said she would never forget the mans face but has no idea who he is. Yes, she's stripped and had sex on camera for a living, a "legitimate - and legal, I'd like to point out - career". Although she spoke to the tabloid magazine in 2011, In Touch did not publish that interview until this January.
Daniels said in 2011 that an Internet rumor about an affair with Trump was "bulls-t".
Daniels says that when she asked him about his marriage, Mr. Trump brushed it off, told her not to worry, and said that he and Melania had separate rooms.
Cohen has admitted to paying Daniels, but maintains it was independent of the Trump campaign. Daniels filed a civil suit in California earlier this month claiming the agreement is invalid on the grounds that Trump never signed it. "You put yourself in a bad situation and bad things happen, so you deserve this", she said.
She was on her way to a fitness class with her child when an unknown man approached her, according to a transcript of the interview released on Sunday. The person making the offer, she said, was Cohen.
And in an unrelated case, a NY state Supreme Court judge ruled recently that a defamation case involving the president and a former contestant on The Apprentice who claims he sexually harassed her can move forward in state court, as NPR's Vanessa Romo reported.
He said Trump had "consistently denied these allegations" of a sexual relationship with Daniels.
The letter also demanded "that you immediately retract and apologize to Mr. Cohen through the national media for your defamatory statements on '60 Minutes, ' and make clear that you have no facts or evidence whatsoever to support your allegations that my client had anything whatsoever to do with this alleged thug".
As for Daniels' comments on the matter, she told Cooper last night that she was not physically attracted to Trump at all and did not want to have a physical relationship with him, but also asserted she is "not a victim".
He batted off the probe, but again said the adult actress" claims were false, explaining: "I would have Michael Cohen address any specifics...
