The crown jewel of Galaxy's Edge is probably the fully-immersive resort it boasts. Even few men boast the array of proven skills - writing, acting, directing, VFX-that Jon Favreau has.

Disney has previously announced that "The Last Jedi" writer-director Rian Johnson is developing a new "Star Wars" film trilogy, and that "Game of Thrones" creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff will write and produce a separate series of "Star Wars" films.

Disney have released awesome footage of their new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park and it looks epic.

And now, the franchise is adding another new face to its already impressive roster of writers, producers and directors.

"It's unlike anything that exists today", Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts said a year ago, "From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story".

Favreau is familiar with that universe, too; he provided the voice of villain Pre Vizsla in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and will voice a character named Rio Durant in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Favreau and Disney go way back. "I cant wait to embark upon this exciting adventure", Favreau said in a statement.

That said, we do know who is on board to executive produce and write - Jon Favreau, a key figure in Disney's Marvel cinematic universe and their forthcoming Lion King remake, has taken the job. He kickstarted the MCU with Iron Man and has since directed Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book and is now working on The Jungle Book 2. He's now prepping a "Lion King" remake to be released in 2019. The Mouse likes to keep its secrets close to the vest.
