The search was focused on Mount Pleasant neighborhoods near campus. Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit is reporting that that the victims are the suspect's parent. Police believe that this is a family domestic type incident.
The university police department released a statement on the school's website at 6 p.m. identifying the victims as James Eric Davis Sr., and Diva Jeneen Davis. "Davis is described as 5'10" and weighing 135 pounds.
"Suspect is armed and risky, described as a black male", the office told Alex Jokich, a local television reporter for CBS-FOX affiliate WWTV-WWUP. The Michigan State Police Mt. "Please remain aware of your surroundings and call 911 to report suspicious activity", Mt. Students and parents were urged to wait to exit until contacted by police.
According to Michigan state police at Mount Pleasant, the shooting took place at a Campbell Hall dormitory in Central Michigan University, killing at least two people and wounding another two. The university said no one was injured by the gunfire.
Earlier, the Mt. Pleasant Public Safety Facebook page said the suspect was wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie. He is considered armed & risky.
Davis was considered armed and unsafe and campus police were investigating the incident along with local and state police, according to university officials. Pleasant hospital and released.
Klaus said video at the dorm suggests Davis Jr. fled on foot after the shooting. Police found clothing possibly belonging to Davis laying on the tracks.
We're told Friday was the final day before Spring Break for students. Many students had already left campus, but others were planning to leave today. The University is warning those who are coming to pick up anyone from the campus to hold off until further notice.
The University has about 20,000 students. and is located about two hours northwest of Detroit.
People were advised "to take shelter", law enforcement and school officials said.
Central Michigan postponed its Friday night men's basketball game against Western Michigan after police confirmed a shooting on campus. Police are working to get a photo of the suspect, according to the media outlet.
Reportedly, the shots were fired at the Campbell hall within the university premises.
