Amid widespread calls that Oprah should run for presidency in 2020, an extract from Donald Trump's book has resurfaced, detailing how much the businessman-turned-politician wanted to have her work with him at the White House.

Trump took a few questions after a meeting with top Democrats and Republicans on a potential immigration deal on border security and DACA.

She added, "I think it's a very very intriguing idea myself".

He recalled that he and his family appeared on Oprah's TV show in its final week.

"This should cover you for about two weeks".

Winfrey's impassioned speech as she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes on Sunday sparked speculation about a future presidential run.

Actress Reese Witherspoon, who presented the talk show host, actress and media mogul with her award, wrote on Twitter: "I will now officially divide time like this: 'Everything that happened before Oprah speech: Everything that will happen after'". She's black, she's a woman, she likes to read. In 1999, he mentioned her as a possible running mate should he ever run for president. "Here is why. The media and the left in this country, well, they now seem to think Oprah is the one person that can help them fulfill their ultimate goal - to destroy Donald Trump and defeat President Trump". No, I like Oprah.

On Monday, her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, told the Los Angeles Times she "would absolutely" run for president if that were the will of the people.

"What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have".

The then governor of IL briefly considered Winfrey to replace Obama in the Senate, but she did not voice interest.

Harry Potter and The OA star Jason Isaacs also enthused about the speech, tweeting: "If you didn't watch Oprah elevating the art of communication and inspiration at the GoldenGlobes, get your children - get your daughters - and do yourselves a favour".

Still, while some Democrats would embrace Winfrey's outsider-celebrity status as the party's answer to Trump, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., noted that Winfrey, like Trump, lacks any kind of experience in government.

Many pundits, activists and celebrities consider Ms Winfrey an ideal candidate to take on Mr Trump, as the democratic field is wide open, she's well known and well-funded.
