"Captain Marvel" Movie Adds "She's Gotta Have It" Actress To Cast

Captain Marvel May Have Just Cast the MCU's Monica Rambeau

'Captain Marvel' Casts 'She's Gotta Have It' Star DeWanda Wise

Recently, she adopted the mantle of Captain Marvel for herself.

Not much is known about the main plot of "Captain Marvel", but the film will be directed by Anna Bodeck and Ryan Fleck, who is known for directing "It's Kind of a Funny Story" and "Half Nelson", respectively. Captain Marvel is set to have a short period of filming later this month before production kicks into full gear later this spring, so Marvel has been busy rounding out the cast.

It looks like Captain Marvel has landed its newest star. Wise is playing Monica Rambeau, the third character (in Marvel Comics, we're not talking about the fella who says "Shazam" over at DC) to hold the name? Their subsequent battle resulted in Danvers gaining her powers. Fans are already speculating that the role will be Monica Rambeau, a.k.a. Spectrum.

The actress joins a cast that includes Brie Larson in the title role, Samuel L. Jackson reprising his Marvel cinematic universe role as Nick Fury, Jude Law and Ben Mendelsohn as the film's villain.

Wise's character has the potential to pull a Falcon in Ant-Man and cameo all around the Marvel movie universe. Her role as the leader of the Avengers would also make her a great addition, seeing as the version of the famous team we all know and love will likely be disbanding after Infinity War.

A previously released description for Captain Marvel offered: The superhero film will be set in the 90s, and the Skrulls, alien shape-shifters, will be the primary antagonists. Just excited to see DeWanda getting more big roles?
