Netflix has renewed Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It for a second season.

She's Gotta Have It, with its progressive polyamorist lead, is still a groundbreaking concept and the first season was critically acclaimed and even won an award from the African-American Film Critics Association.

The filmmaker appeared in a short video alongside his wife Tonya Lewis Lee, to send his fans well wishes and share the news.

Wise also shared her excitement about getting back to work in Brooklyn soon.

As of now, there's no timetable for when Season 2 will be available. The series, like the film, is about a young woman trying to balance her job, her friends, and her three lovers, and her search to stay true to herself. Lee broke his story down into 10 episodes for the inaugural season in the hopes of being able to continue to tell Nola's story in an ongoing Netflix series.

Variety reports that season two has been picked up for eight more episodes with no official release date. Can't wait to return to BK. Yes, that means we will get more adventures with Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise), Greer Childs (Cleo Anthony), Mars Blackmon (Anthony Ramos), Clorinda Bradford (Margot Bingham) and Sheryl Overstreet (Sydney Morton).
