The "recommended for you" section will have at least three suggested posts and five at most. The people behind Instagram are taking the time to ensure that the "Recommended for You" section will contain posts that are actually relevant to user's interests. Some users, as expected, are not happy about this addition to Instagram and have vented their thoughts on social media. These posts are suggested based on posts liked by accounts you follow. However, it was a little bit hard to access it. Users had to go to the Explore section to see recommended posts and videos.
Many new app companies are looking to include algorithms for informational sources. Rather, the section will appear after you've viewed all the posts in your feed, an Instagram spokesperson explains, while confirming the feature's public launch to TechCrunch.
This feature may already be in the works for several other smartphone applications. It is not clear as to what Instagram's goal might be in the recently released features. The recommended content is, however, not optional and there is no way you can disable it. With the new feature, you can select to follow a particular hashtag, and posts with these hashtags will begin appearing on your timeline.
Unfortunately for those that desire to remove this option entirely this is not going to be possible but instead when users come across one of these "recommended" posts they can locate the three dots and choose the "hide" option.
Instagram says the feature, which is available on both iOS and Android, is now rolling out.
So, let us know what you think about this new change to Instagram. In early December, the social media platform rolled out testing for their "Recommended for You" section.
