Whoever finds the final clue will inherit the entire virtual world.
In the new trailer, keep an eye out for plenty of 1980s pop-culture references, since that neon-splashed era was when Halliday grew up. There are going to be so many little details referencing other movies, TV shows and video games, that people will be watching this movie over and over again to catch them. Starring Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance, see the trailer and poster (which contains extremities that could've used another glance before hitting export on Photoshop) below.
The first teaser came out earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con and gave a hint as to what kind of world this is, but the new trailer paints an elaborate picture of what to expect from the movie which opens on March 30, 2018. When the creator of OASIS dies under mysterious circumstances, he leaves his fortune and control of OASIS to the person who discovers a fabled Easter Egg inside the virtual world. Directed by Spielberg from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline, Ready Player One was produced by Spielberg, Donald De Line, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah; with Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris DeFaria and Bruce Berman as executive producers. Upon his death, Halliday leaves behind one final game for the players of OASIS - an Easter Egg hunt that will grant the victor full ownership of OASIS, as well as Halliday's billion dollar fortune. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
