An witness told ABC Channel 7 that he saw a white pick-up truck drive south down the bike path alongside the West Side Highway at full speed and hit several people. It is a selective public school, one of nine specialized New York City high schools that admit students based on test scores.

In video from the scene, several bodies and bicycles were strewn along a bike path alongside Chambers and West streets.
