But there's less pressure on UCLA to bend to LaVar's will now that there is a very realistic chance that LaMelo never plays college basketball. His son LaMelo will no longer be a member of the team at Chino Hills (Calif.) High, will no longer be a junior there.
LaVar Ball, the enthusiastic yet at-times abrasive father of Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, is reportedly pulling his youngest son out of high school in order to homeschool and train him, as he continues to excel in the sport in his own right.
LaVar will take over LaMelo's training, telling Sondheimer he's "going to make him the best basketball player ever". Ironically enough, the only thing Latimore did to anger LaVar was say that LaMelo needed to stop shooting 50 shots-a-game, which, he frankly isn't in the wrong for demanding.
Chino Hills coach Stephan Gilling was sacked after just one season on the job, and LaVar disputed reports that he was responsible for the coaching change.
"When it comes to basketball and you're good, you just better be ready for training camp", LaVar said.
Known for making bold, outspoken claims, LaVar Ball is back with more controversial news.
"It's a new coach and I don't like him one bit".
The 16-year-old Ball has had a whirlwind of a year, first grabbing headlines after dropping 92 points in a single game last season while with Chino Hills. Would it surprise anyone if LaVar uses his massive fame to publicly question Alford the same way he has the Chino Hills coaches?
According to BleacherReport.com, Ball's decision to pull his on from school stems from issues with the school's coaching staff.
