OJ Simpson to eat steak, get iPhone after expected release from prison next week

As part of the judge's decision in the Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman wrongful death civil lawsuit, Simpson was ordered to pay $33.5M to their families in damages. The statute allows a compacting state in which an offender has been convicted of a crime, served prison time, and been paroled to permit a parolee to relocate, but the receiving state has the authority to deny such a request, according to Bondi.

The conviction came after a botched effort to retrieve items that Simpson insisted were stolen after his acquittal in the 1994 killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in Los Angeles.

Simpson spent nine years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping after a 2008 incident with memorabilia dealers.

Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, said earlier Friday there's "no doubt" Simpson is going to Florida.

His attorney recently said that after his release, O.J. plans to go to Florida, where he used to own a home.

Orenthal James "O.J." Simpson shot to fame in the 1970s with the NFL's Buffalo Bills after winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy - the award for the best player in American collegiate football - as a running back at the University of Southern California.

Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter Friday to the Florida Department of Corrections, urging it to tell Nevada officials that Florida objects to Simpson serving his parole in the southern state.

Simpson's prison term expires when the clock strikes midnight on Sunday - when September turns into October. "Maybe not the first day or second, but he is going to go out", Scotto said.

The Nevada Board of Parole rules bluntly state: "You shall not associate with convicted felons, persons who are engaged in criminal activity, or other persons with who your supervising officer instructs you not to associate".

Simpson hopes to return to Florida, as his two youngest children Sydney and Justin live in the Tampa Bay area.

During his parole hearing in July, Simpson seemed to maintain that he hadn't done anything wrong, claiming he had "basically lived a conflict-free life".

Most of that money has never been collected, although the families said they will continue to pursue payment from Simpson.

Meanwhile, the 70-year-old Simpson remains at Lovelock Correctional Center in northern Nevada awaiting transfer to High Desert State Prison outside Las Vegas, where he would be freed, Keast said.

According to CNN, Simpson eventually wants to move to Florida, where he reportedly plans to work on his golf game.
