So where can you catch tonight's episodes of South Park and when will all of the action go down?
While many awaited South Park to take a hard stance on the white-nationalist movement on September 13, they instead took on the problems of inequality in America from multiple different angles, barely touching racism head-on. He just gets more stylized confederate merchandise and his wide-open living space gives him more room to hang out with his white nationalists. The way we do that show is not compatible with full serialisation. Given the shaky first few months of the Donald Trump presidency, one would expect Trey Parker and Matt Stone to dive into it head first. In a world where Donald Trump is present, satire is extremely hard to pull off.
Trey added: "I want to get back to Cartman dressing up like a robot and [screwing] with Butters, because to me that's the bread and butter of South Park". Amazon's home task-helper Alexa even shows up to represent the issue.
But Parker and Stone never take their redneck/white nationalist stereotypes far enough from the source material for it to work as a joke that can stand on its own.
But given Wednesday's premiere, it's clear South Park can't quite help trying to cover the president-or at least, the political landscape his election fomented. The pieces of the episode never really connect here and the whole thing never really gets going.
At this point, "South Park" seems to be asking viewers to have pity on the white nationalists who lost jobs from automation while also calling them out for their ill-founded racism.
However, not all viewers were pleased, and not just because the episode itself wasn't so great.
The boys themselves, aside from Cartman are hardly in the episode; in fact, they are involved in the opening scene and that is about it. Cartman's relationship, one of the weaker plots from last season, takes centre stage here, to varying results. Anytime Randy decides he's going to do stop being a geologist for an episode and do something insane like dad's at baseball games or become a chef, I'm all for it.
Sling TV subscribers can use their Sling TV app to watch tonight's episode on a plethora of options such as phones, tablets, and XBox Ones if they're not too busy dominating 14-year-olds in Federation Internationale de Football Association. We probably could put up billboards-"Look what we're going to do to Trump next week!"-and get insane ratings".
