West Sacramento police received a domestic violence call just after 9:20 p.m.at the Timber Apartments off Jefferson Boulevard, according to Sgt. Roger Kinney.
Police say neighbors called 911 to report a domestic violence incident involving Hodges and his wife, and that as officers were on their way a second call came in reporting the killings.
Despite efforts by responding teams to revive the children, all three were pronounced dead at the scene reported the Sacramento Bee.
Authorities say the mother of the children was the victim of domestic violence. Police say the woman was in a relationship with the suspect, but it is unknown if he was the father of the children. The children's names, ages and genders have not been released by authorities.
