Hingis and Murray Claim Mixed Title at US Open

Murray and Hingis through to mixed doubles final

US Open: Kevin Anderson defeats Pablo Carreno Busta to reach first Grand Slam final

The pair are now the first team to win back-to-back mixed titles at the majors since Hingis and Leander Paes achieved the feat.

Scottish Tennis star Sir Andy Murray has lauded his older brother Jamie after he won the US Open Mixed Doubles final with partner Martina Hingis. "We might not have finished them as well, so I think we'll be even more hungry to win on Sunday".

Hingis, meanwhile, has now won seven mixed doubles titles, as well as five individual Grand Slam crowns in a glittering career on the court.

Murray and Hingis romped through the draw at Wimbledon but things were tougher here. "His wingspan as you saw at the end", she said, referring to Murray's reaching overhead smash that ended the tight super-tiebreaker to cap off the contest.

They could not have made a better start in the final, breaking the Venus serve twice in a first set that lasted just 22 minutes.

Murray and Hingis, who remain unbeaten as a pair, saved three set points in the second-set tie-break before taking their second match point.

The Scot said: "This scoring format is a lot more random than at Wimbledon". There was a lot of noise. They are there four hours before the women's singles final, so they are there because they want to come and watch us play.

Murray said his younger brother, who withdrew from the tournament with a hip injury, congratulated him after the match.

Murray took to Twitter after Wimbledon to point out the prize money he collected for winning the title with Jelena Jankovic in 2007 had not changed in 10 years.

Success: Murray has won his fifth Grand Slam title. I think doubles is a huge part of tennis.
