The Meyerside club have impressively beaten off the competition of the defending Premier League champions Chelsea to sign Chamberlain.

Speaking on BBC Five Live, via the Express, Wilson said: "I'm particularly upset about Alex".

"I hear a lot of talk about positions but let's talk about the player; he is someone with really good abilities who always gives everything for his team", Klopp said in an interview with the official website.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain appears to have his heart set on a move to Liverpool. "This is a terrific blow to Arsenal, but I'm not sure it's good for Alex himself".

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24 still has a year left on his contract but has made a decision to move on to secure more first team action.

He's a player who, to be fair, could play in Jurgen Klopp's style.

He was also on fellow London club Chelsea's radar but chose to turn down the move due to The Blues' insistence on playing him on the wing as he looks to play in a team in central midfield. "I want to publicly thank Arsene, the coaching and club staff and my fantastic team mates for all of the incredible opportunities I have been given".

The 24-year-old finalised a move to Jurgen Klopp's side from Arsenal on Premier League deadline day for an initial fee of £35million.

The Gunners have already lost England left-back Kieran Gibbs, who joined West Bromwich Albion.

Arsenal allegedly offered Oxlade-Chamberlain up to £180,000 a week in a new contact, but it was turned down.

After Liverpool and Arsenal reached an agreement of £40m, Oxlade-Chamberlain is undergoing a medical.

Oxlade-Chamberlain sent out this message on Twitter this morning.

The Chilean's future at the club has been uncertain all summer with less than a year remaining in his current Gunners deal, however, Wenger has remained adamant that he will remain at the Emirates Stadium.
