The New York National Guard will be sending a regional medical plans officer to help evacuate and transport patients from the Houston hospitals.
An HC-130 search-and-rescue aircraft carrying 15 more Airmen from the 106th Rescue flew to Fort Hood in Texas Tuesday.
"While we never wish for anyone to be faced with disaster, we are always ready to assist, whether here in Nebraska or elsewhere in the U.S.", Bohac said. "We're anxious to just get there now".
The Louisiana National Guard is acting at the direction of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. On Wednesday, Abbott said that number increased to 14,000 with many being sent to Southeast Texas.
The Wisconsin National Guard is readying troops to respond to Gov. Scott Walker's offer to help Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, according to a release.
In Alaska-where locals and visitors enjoy the outdoors, often in extreme conditions-members of the 176th Wing's three rescue squadrons have performed more than 1,600 saves for those who have become lost or injured since 1991. "Our heart breaks to see what they are having to go through right now, so anything we can do to assist them, we want to be there", Col. Keith Reed, Commander of the 137th Special Operations Medical Group, said.
It's been a busy August for the Oregon National Guard.
"We expect to be operational within a few hours of landing in Houston", Bancroft said. "We are linking the Coast Guard's tactical operations centers to the air assets so messages as far as Orange, Port Arthur and Beaumont [Texas] to help coordinate rescue efforts". The state's "Red Arrow" Infantry Brigade Combat Team and some Army aviation soldiers are being told they could be a part of the National Guard's response. They've dropped more than 750,000 gallons of water on the fires by helicopter.
On Monday the helicopters and guard members were used to move cargo around the Houston area.
