Xiaomi teaser

Xiaomi teases global launch of a new Mi phone on Sept 5

And the launch event is set for September 5th in New Delhi. Interestingly, the news gives us a close hint that the flagship smartphone would feature a dual lens camera module. Only Mi India fans can register for this event and they have to register before 31st August, 10 PM. The MIUI 9 is Android 7.1.2 Nougat based. We are still unsure whether the Mi 6 or Mi 5X are to be launched.

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi 5X supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM configuration (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM/microSD) slot. The rear camera setup in the phone is identical to Mi 6, the brand's flagship phone.

The Mi 5X has two 12MP sensors at the back. The highlight of the device is the dual rear camera setup with one 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and 12-megapixel telephoto with f/2.6 aperture. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. Maybe, Xiaomi will unveil the Mi A1 on September, because it's the Xiaomi Mi 5X itself, sans the MIUI 9.

Coming to the specifications, the Mi 5X sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) 2.5D curved display. The phone is available in three different colours - Gold, Black and Rose Gold (Pink). It comes powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The company is hying it up by calling it as "flagship dual camera".

On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Global Positioning System with AGS/GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack and USB type C. The device measures 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighs 165 grams. For charging and establishing other connections, an USB Type-C port is provided. Considering the phone costs 1499 Yuan ($222 Dollars or Rs. 14,300 approx.) in China, we expect the Indian retail price to be somewhere around Rs. 14,999. At this price point, the phone seems like an absolute bang for the buck.

The Mi 5X retails for the equivalent of $220 in China, so the device will likely debut at the ₹15,000 mark.
