What's the latest on Markelle Fultz' ankle injury?

Sixers Sign 2017 First Overall Pick Markelle Fultz

Markelle Fultz Suffers Scary Ankle Injury, Ruled Out For Rest Of 76ers' Summer League Game

A local radio station posed that question Sunday morning, several hours after top pick Markelle Fultz suffered an ankle injury during a summer league game in Las Vegas and needed helping leaving the court.

Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo told Shelburne that Fultz was diagnosed with a sprained ankle.

The first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Fultz had just signed his rookie contract earlier in the day before stepping onto the court for his first action in a Sixers uniform. "Again, based on the initial diagnosis, you rather hear that than something worse".

The 76ers were playing in a Summer League game against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, and with 8 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Fultz ran through the lane trying to making a running block from behind.

Fultz was a member of the 2016 Team USA Under-18 team that won the FIBA Americas World Championships last July. However, recent history has Sixers' fans realizing yet another nightmare.

The Philadelphia 76ers say Fultz is expected to return to basketball activities in one to two weeks. Even so, injuries have limited Embiid to 31 games over his first three seasons while Simmons is yet to take the floor. And then was out for the season and underwent minor knee surgery.

The news comes as a huge relief for the Sixers and their fans.
