Texas congressman's staffer among those wounded in shooting

A staff member for Texas Rep. Roger Williams who was shot at Wednesday morning's congressional baseball practice is "okay", according to a post on his Facebook page.

According to Barth's LinkedIn, he started working with the Williams' office in September 2016. Rep. Williams later confirmed that Barth was the aide who was shot and said he's expected to make a full recovery.

Roger Williams (R-Tex.) wrote that Zack Barth, a legislative correspondent in his office, was wounded in the shooting.

A Houston man has been named as one of the victims of Wednesday morning's shooting at a GOP baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia.

Trump said Wednesday morning that the gunman who shot Rep. Steve Scalise, of Louisiana, had died.

Williams said he "ran to the first base dugout which is in the ground about 7 feet and I literally dove into that dugout be like diving I guess into a swimming pool with no water".

Please keep the member of my staff and all members of the congressional baseball team in your thoughts in prayers during this extremely hard time. Two Capitol police officers and a lobbyist were also shot.

According to Williams' office, the Republican baseball team regularly practices at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria starting at about 6:30 a.m. Williams has served as the team's coach since he joined Congress in 2013. Several committee hearings were postponed.

Zachary Barth wrote on his personal account that he was at the hospital after being shot during practice for Thursday's congressional baseball game.

"Americans everywhere should be thankful that this is still the kind of country that still produces these kinds of heroes", he said, adding that he will attend the scheduled baseball game between Republican and Democratic House members tomorrow.
