Los Angeles 2024 Olympic bid chiefs on Wednesday vowed to put athletes at the forefront of the Games if the Californian city wins the right to stage the sporting spectacular.
Paris and Los Angeles in the United States are the two remaining candidate cities for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
An air of uncertainty has been hanging over the bidding process with the International Olympic Committee considering a proposal that would mean the 2024 and 2028 Games both being awarded on September 13 during a congress in Lima.
Estanguet also put aside the discussion about the 2028 Games, which has been considered by the International Olympic Committee to announce each of the two candidate cities as hosts for 2024 and 2028 Games to avoid leaving the other as a losing side.
A city that is as famous for its gridlock as for sun and surf, the commission also got a first-hand look at LA's notorious freeway system.
"It has made our bid stronger and we know that our engagement with you over the next three days will make it stronger still. European Athletics has looked at both bids and we believe that Paris is the best from an overall perspective and specifically with regards to our sport", said Hansen.
The Games are also been touted as a golden opportunity to shape Greater Paris through the regeneration of numerous sites including Seine-Saint-Denis, one of the poorest regions of France with high youth unemployment. At the time, Trump said he would travel to Lima if needed or host IOC President Thomas Bach at the White House.
The evaluation commission starts its three-day visit on Sunday, after a trip to Los Angeles, the only other city in the race to host the 2024 Games. "We have two cities with a wonderful Olympic spirit".
"Both bids at the basis are extraordinary cities", Baumann said in defense.
"One of them said to us: 'We keep looking for the hole in this bid and we can't find it, '" Garcetti told journalists.
The week reinforced the game-changing potential of an Olympic Village on the UCLA campus or at least its potential to cancel out the perceived advantage the Paris bid has in terms of transportation.
LA 2024 chairman Casey Wasserman said the plans were a direct result of the city's reliance of existing venues. "The 1984 Boys. bring a very powerful combination of intelligence, enthusiasm and energy to this cause".
According to a report from News18.com, the committee chair stated that Los Angeles would pose "no major risk". The back-to-back visits of the only two cities in the running for the 2024 Games usher in what is expected to be a frenzied final spurt of campaigning.
